Volkswagen develops in-wheel motor technology to promote battery car design innovation

2021-09-15

According to reports, Volkswagen has cooperated with Protean Electric, a supplier of battery vehicle technology, and the in-wheel motor technology is expected to promote a new model of battery vehicle design and manufacturing.

It is reported that Volkswagen Bora adopts the in-wheel motor technology of Protien and is currently in the testing stage. In the next few years, Volkswagen and Protien are expected to collaborate on a new model for electric vehicle production.

The use of electric motor technology can free up space under the hood, and the car's engine can be placed where the traditional differential is or other places. Plotion Holding's in-wheel motor technology integrates power, transmission and braking into the wheel hub, simplifying the mechanics of electric vehicles. The company's CEO Kwok-yin Chan said that in-wheel motor technology can enable the new Polaris to reduce the space occupied by the engine and transmission system and achieve higher space utilization.
